Created in 2008, the GDA Foundation Film Actors Award aims to recognize the artistic merit and excellence of the work of Portuguese actors in fiction feature films.
It is therefore intended to promote and confer recognition to the work of featured performers in the accomplishment of their professional activity. The award contributes towards the appreciation of the profession through the creation of a public homage that symbolizes the prominence, meaning and impact associated with these professional activities and the potential they represent for the cultural, social and human development of societies.
What sets this award apart is that the entire process is accomplished exclusively by performers, making it an award attributed by peers: an acting award given by professionals from the same area.
