VAARWELL

Vaarwell são uma banda nascida em Lisboa em finais de 2014 e composta por Margarida Falcão (voz, guitarras, teclados e sintetizadores), Ricardo Nagy (guitarras e teclados) e Luís Monteiro (baixo e sintetizadores). Ao vivo, são acompanhados por André Paiva e Tomás Borralho.

O EP de estreia da banda, «Love and Forgiveness», saiu em 2015 e chamou à atenção de alguma imprensa nacional e internacional, tendo o vídeoclip do single «Perfectly Fine» sido estreado na internacional Stereogum. O single «Branches» foi ainda escolhido por Henrique Amaro para integrar a colectânea Novos Talentos FNAC nesse ano. Recentemente, um tema inédito da banda foi incluído na banda sonora duma exposição do Philippe Starck no Groninger Museum (Holanda), apresentada no âmbito do festival Eurosonic Noorderslag 2017.

Este disco, que conta com o apoio da GDA – Gestão dos Direitos dos Artístas, contem 12 temas escritos por Margarida Falcão (música e letras) e Ricardo Nagy (música e produção) e foi gravado por Joaquim Monte no Namouche Estúdio, misturado e co-produzido por Paulo Mouta Pereira e masterizado por Miguel Pinheiro Marques (SDB Mastering). Para além dos Vaarwell, o disco conta ainda com a participação de Tomás Borralho (Anthony Left) e Diogo Teixeira de Abreu (Lotus Fever) nas baterias, Paulo Mouta Pereira (David Fonseca) no piano e Bernardo Afonso (Lotus Fever) nas teclas. O design foi da responsabilidade de Manuela Abreu Peixoto.

Os singles “YOU” e “Homebound 456” estiveram em destaque na BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 e Amazing Radio e o álbum foi recebido pela imprensa nacional e internacional, sendo a “YOU” a música do dia no jornal online OBSERVADOR.

Singer Margarida Falcão explains: “This track was the last one on the album to be written. It talks about having arguments. Getting fired up and then realizing it’s just not worth it. Although we were listening to a lot of R&B during the whole album’s writing process, this is probably the most R&B-influenced track we have ever written and maybe that’s why it’s special for us”.
